Transitional Housing Assistance
The Island County Service Center currently has 14
families active in transitional housing. Vouchers are administered through the Housing
Authority of Island County and provide up to two years of assistance. Clients are
contacted monthly to assess progress towards identified goals, and reviewed on a six-month
basis to determine compliance for renewal of the voucher. In early 2005, with the addition
of Marjie's House, another 4 units will be added to the inventory of available
transitional shelter.

barriers to employment, allowing them opportunities to increase their skills and address
issues. Currently the service center has 3 individuals under contract and placed in
employment situations. The existing contract allows for up to 6 referrals. This has been a
program that has experienced serious funding restrictions.
