Well worth reading: http://www.newyorker.com/fact/content/?030407fa_fact1 by Seymour Hersh.

I am back after being busy with things non-computer.   Cindy is out of school this week so I just have not had time for computers! And just now my third ReplayTV has arrived and I'll see if it works today or tomorrow.

Romeo and Juliet at the Rep Review:  why, someone please tell me, do people "improve" Shakespeare?   I wanted to cry when suddenly Romeo appears in leather jacket and shoots a gun.  Although I was in shock at the gratuitous nudity and cigarette smoking.  Please, someone on the staff at SRT should be shot.   Both of my thumbs down on this one, sad, sad, sad.

Movie recommendation: Night of the Hunter with Charles Laughton, Robert Mitchum, Shelley Winters, Lillian Gish (1955) is worth a night in front of the big screen.

Oh yes, No WAR, please!   We have great people over in Iraq right now, I pray for them, but this is Bush's war, and should not be our countries war.

NO WAR, Please!  Worth reading: Michael Moore's letter to Bush

HTPC: I had a day's worth of problems with my WinTV PVR 250.  I decided it might be because of a conflict with having the HDTV card in the system, so I removed that and the problem persisted.  Most of the time the card did not work in that there was no TV image or sound!  Then I found a setting for graphics card overlay that mentioned Windows XP, I checked that box and everything has been fine.  Whew.  Maybe it's time to try putting the HDTV Hipix 200 card back in.   I also downloaded powerstrip in anticipation of setting up the VGA output to go directly to the HDTV although I am nervous about that.  I'll post another complete hardware list and pictures once I am happy with the setup.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

After two bad Western Digital 120 GB drives I returned the last one for a refund from PCClub and get a Seagate from Hard Drives Northwest.   The Seagate is very quiet and it looks like it is working perfectly.

News from ReplayTV!

Subject: RMA for your unit
Date: Thu, 13 Mar 2003 15:10:07 -0600
Mr. Burgess,
I have set up an RMA for the unit you have.  It appears that the unit did not get serialized before it was sent to you, hence no serial number in the system information screen.  I spoke with  the engineers, and they instructed me to go ahead and set up the exchange for you.  So, here is the information you need:
RMA number:  xxxxxx
Replay TV, INC.  RMA #xxxxxx
4601 Cromwell Avenue
Memphis, TN  38118
Please be sure to include only the unit when you send it in.  And make sure that the RMA number is clearly visible on the machine.  In addition, I am sending you an airbill to cover the shipping costs.
Thanks,
Xxxxx

ReplayTV: They say it's the right number, try again in a few...  ,,,,Well the FAX never did go because the line was busy or would not answer.  I sent the letter via USPS, sigh.  Now I am looking at WinTV 350 and I see that my MSI motherboard has TV-oout capability.

The Slashdot article on MS interns has some disturbing reports for female interns.

We went to see Chicago (movie) this past weekend and and found it without redeeming social value.  There were some amazing performances and lots of production value, but it's a movie that need not have been made and that you should not waste your time with, in my opinion.

I installed the Office 11 Beta today with one minor glitch, glitch, had had garbage registry setting, setting, couldn't even remove WORKS (I think it was in there form DELL) until until fixed the registry.

The Replay TV remains broken, here is is letter to the VP of engineering LETTER (in Word format) that I have not sent in yet.  Here is the file of the packet dump FILE (in TXT format).

8PM: Interesting Note: Replay TV web page lists lists FAX number that is incorrect.
