Well, this is it. The final part. The epilogue. The very last. The beginning of the end. *sighs* It had to happen sooner or later. I'd like to thank everyone that's read this far and been so kind to comment through reviews or e-mails. It's meant a lot to me; I feel best when I'm able to please other people with what I do well. ^_^ And now, without further adieu, the epilogue!

~ Truths and Revelations ~

He ran a hand through his spiky hair, adjusting his sunglasses with the other. That done, he leaned back in his chair in a relaxed manner, swiveling it to face the entrance into the coolly-furnished chamber. He smirked at the two figures that walked in, watching the older of the two aim his gaze on a shimmering light to the far side of the room.

Makusumon's eerily-soothing voice echoed off the walls. "Welcome again, Gennai. How is the outside world?"

"For the first time in months, the Digital World isn't in utter chaos," the older of the two visitors replied, face still hidden within his hood. "The Digidestined have begun to knock down the Control Spires of the Digimon Emperor. . . I thank you all for your help. Testing the emperor was much more favorable than having him release Chimeramon. . ."

". . . It was nothing."

There was a snort from a darkened corner of the chamber. "Only a Vaccine would say that." Gleaming amber eyes and a shock of orange hair appeared, causing the boy to Gennai's side to start in response. "I would say that taking on the newest threat to the Digital World was not 'nothing.'"

"Ah, Uragirumon," greeted the man with a faint smile. "Bitter about having to fake your death?" The three masters of the Forgotten Pentagon were extremely powerful in their own ways, relying more on cunning and strategy over strength to defeat their foes and digimon that stumbled upon their lair. A single Armored digimon was hardly enough to defeat one of them.

"I'm always bitter," replied Virus digimon, his slight sneer hidden beneath the folds of his tattered, green cloak. "Truly, though, I highly enjoyed this testing; I haven't had so much fun in decades."

The Guardian of the Digidestined chuckled. "You are too much like Puppetmon for your own good."

Uragirumon scowled. "My cousin has mental problems."

"I have to agree with you there," Makusumon murmured. "And how is your apprentice, Gennai?"

Gennai pulled down his hood, revealing his youthful, handsome face and stunning, blue eyes. "Why don't you ask him yourself?" he queried.

The holy spirit digimon chuckled. "He seems to be a bit . . . preoccupied."

At that, Gennai shifted his attention from the two Game Lords he had been conversing with to his young apprentice. The boy was staring at the last of the three Game Lords with a mix of shock, sadness, and apprehension; even with his hood still masking his face, Gennai could read his young charge like an open book. Frowning, he looked to the Game Lord. "You don't need to be in that form."

Utagaumon smirked, lounging in his chair as he looked at the Guardian. "I enjoy this form," he replied in the voice of the Digimon Emperor. "I don't get to see humans every day, now do I? Especially one so complicated and fascinating. . ."

". . . Always the curious one, hmm?" Gennai's face softened slowly, and he placed a hand on his apprentice's shoulder. "Are you all right?"

". . . Yes, sir," sighed the boy. "I was just a bit . . . surprised."

"Disturbed, you mean," corrected Gennai.

"It must be disturbing," whispered Utagaumon, looking at the white-robed boy with a glint of interest. "Having such ties to a person you've never seen in this way must be downright unnerving."

The robed apprentice trembled, bowing his head at the digimon's words. Gennai pinned Utagaumon with a long stare, then spun around. "The Digidestined will have to confront Arukenimon soon, and then her master. I shall join with them before meeting with . . . Myotismon."

"I always believed that that vampire was too stubborn to be deleted," Uragirumon muttered darkly.

"Killed, you mean," amended Makusumon. "Digimon in the Real World cannot be deleted or reformatted."

"Master Gennai . .. sir. . .," the boy managed, looking towards the Guardian. "I. . . Will I be allowed to go with you to meet them. . .?

Gennai sighed, keeping his back to the boy as he shook head. ". . . No, not yet. I will tell you when you may meet them."

Disheartened, the boy apprentice lowered his eyes and quieted. Gennai left the chamber, followed closely by Uragirumon and the light that was Makusumon. Only two figures remained in the suddenly semi-dark room, one depressed and the other fascinated. It was silent for a long moment, until the apprentice heard a chair squeak and suddenly remembered he wasn't alone.

"You are very interesting," the Data digimon stated, earning him a suspicious glance from the boy that was older in appearance. "You are like Gennai, are you not?"

"I will be the next Guardian, if that's what you mean," the apprentice coldly replied.

The digimon shook his head, adjusting his shades. "That's not what I meant. Are you . . . the same race as him?"

"No, I'm not," responded the other. "Does it really matter?"

"To me it does," said the blue-haired doppelganger. "What are you then? Human?"

". . . I don't know."

Violet eyes blinked in surprise. "You don't know?"

The boy nodded slowly. "I don't know anymore. Up until a few years ago, I was human." He paused, finally looking fully at the digimon. ". . . Is that really what he looks like now?" he queried weakly.

Raising a fair brow that was not his, Utagaumon stood up from his chair. "The Child of Kindness? This is his past form; he only gave it up a short while ago."

"What does he look like now, then?" The apprentice of Gennai looked down on the disguised digimon.

Utagaumon responded by beginning to glow softly, his form changing before the boy's eyes. The shades and spiky hair disappeared, the clothes of the Digimon Emperor melting into a gray uniform. "This is what he would look like now."

The apprentice let out a wary, shaky breath, fists slowly clenching and unclenching. ". . . He looks . . . well."

"Looks can be deceiving," shrugged the digimon, shifting back into the form of the emperor. "He may be sad behind walls of restraint. Only he would know." A short pause. "Why do you care about Ken Ichijouji so much?"

In reply, the apprentice reached up and pulled down his hood, revealing startlingly vibrant eyes and hair that was chaotic and neat at the same time. Utagaumon's eyes widened behind tinted frames. "You are--"

The boy abruptly interrupted. "I must leave; Gennai's calling me. Perhaps we'll meet again." He smiled faintly. "You're the first digimon I've really talked to. It was . . . very fascinating."

He turned heel and walked away, leaving a stunned Game Lord behind him. He preferred it that way; it was better to shock than scare digimon with his face.

Utagaumon watched the apprentice exit, leaning back and sitting in his chair. A faint grin appeared on his face, his shock leaving him and being replaced with wonder and intrigue. Fascinating child, that boy is. . .

He was Osamu Ichijouji, brother to the former Digimon Emperor and apprentice to the Guardian of the Digidestined.

. . . Did I say "the beginning of the end?" I meant "the end of the beginning." *evil grin*
Ken -- Osamu-chan. . .
Osamu -- *too shocked to speak*
Ken -- Osamu-chan. . .?
Osamu -- . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Oh, god.
What's next? Well, I'm going to be adding extras to this document. Stats, answers to questions (after this epilogue, there WILL be questions ^_~), notes, and stuff. Hopefully I won't get it trouble for it. See ya then!
